“The best classroom and the richest cupboard is roofed only by the sky.” - Margaret McMillan

In the course of the journey that our students take whilst at Millbrook, we endeavour to provide them with a wide range of activities and opportunities. We actively engage them in learning outside the classroom and in deepening their knowledge and appreciation of the habitat in which they live, to be inspired by the wonder of the natural world.

We value the importance of the local environment.  We encourage the children to engage with both their natural and man-made heritage, to help them to understand the global significance of sustainability and help them to make informed decisions that contribute to a greener way of life. Learning to care for and respect the natural world around them.

By engaging in the world we live in they can make connections between curricular areas, promoting lifelong learning and critical thinking skills.

The children use a range of skills and abilities that are not always visible in the classroom.  This can lead to changes in lifelong expectations and success.  New and exciting skills are learnt that can inspire them to reach their full potential, helping children to become more engaged in their learning.

Promoting physical and mental well-being is important and can encourage the children and the wider community to develop a healthier lifestyle.

By tackling a wide range of activities the children have the opportunity to become safer and stronger, learning to assess and manage risk-taking for both themselves and their peers.

“Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything.” -  Albert Einstein
