Admissions - Nursery

Please note, this website page has been updated to reflect

our Nursery provision as of 1st September 2026

We have three intakes during the academic year which coincide with the school terms:

  • September (Autumn term)
  • January (Spring term)
  • April (Summer term)

We offer different patterns of attendance which are expected to be kept regularly. This means our Nursery staff can plan for careful provision and learning for your child within our Early Years class and, we believe, offers an enhances service which is much more than childcare.

Setting Session Times
3 & 4 Year old Nursery Setting - 15 hours09:00am until 12:00pm daily
3 & 4 Year Old Nursery Setting - 30 hours09:00am until 3:00pm daily

Rockies

(Three- and Four-Year-Old Provision)

The school runs classes Rockies for children the term after their third birthday.

The Nursery class has a capacity of 55 places

All three and four-year-olds are currently entitled to 15 hours funded childcare per week, for 38 weeks per year during term time (normal school terms). This is offered at Millbrook Nursery as five 3-hour sessions per week in the morning.

We offer 30 hours funded childcare at Millbrook Nursery for parents who are eligible to working parent funding. This works out at 30 hours a week of 38 weeks per year during term time (normal school terms).

You can be entitled to a 30-hour funded place if the following applies:

  • a child must be under compulsory school age and living in England

  • both parents must be working (or the sole parent is working in a lone parent family)

  • you need to earn a certain amount over the next 3 months – this is at least the national minimum living wage or living wage for 16 hours a week on average - If you have a partner, they’ll need to expect to earn at least this much too

  • families where one parent does not work (or neither parent works) will not usually be eligible for the extended free entitlement

It is important to note that a place in Millbrook Nursery does not guarantee a school place as admissions into Reception are managed by Buckinghamshire Council Admissions Team

How do I check if I am eligible to a funded Nursery place?

We strongly recommend that you check to see if you are eligible to any funding. You can check your eligibility by going onto the Best Start in Life parent Hub website where it will carry out the relevant checks. If you are shown as eligible to funding, please provide us the funding code so we can update your application. If you do not provide us with this information whether you are eligible or not eligible, we will be unable to process your Nursery application accurately which could then affect where your Nursery application sits on our current waiting list.

Can I pay for Nursery session or carry out additional hours?

We do offer to parents/carers the option to pay for sessions if they are not eligible to funding or are interested in their child carrying out additional hours in addition to their funded hours.

If your child is 3 or 4 years old the cost would be £16.75 per session

If you are yet to apply for a Nursery place and would be interested in paying for sessions please express this on your nursery application form where requested.

If you are currently in our Nursery and would like to carry out additional hours, please attend the School Office and obtain an "Additional Hours Request Form" and a "Terms and Conditions Form" or refer to our useful forms page on our website under our parent section.

How do you apply to join the Nursery waiting list?

To apply for a place in our Nursery please download and complete a Nursery application form which you will be able to locate at the bottom of this page or please feel free to collect one from the school office.

Once completed, please feel free to send it electronically via email to the admissions email address at admissions@millbrook.bucks.sch.uk or hand it back in person to the school office.

You will also need to provide a copy of a birth certificate or passport as this is an admission requirement.

If you have any further questions regarding Nursery admissions, please email our School Secretary on the admissions email address: admissions@millbrook.bucks.sch.uk
